The relatively quite houshold of mine has been turned upside down into a party house. Alright maybe a slight exaggeration, but currently the brothers-in-law (B'sIL) are down from the north to visit. It has seen the upper body or rather still the elbow get quite a workout and doesn't look like it will end soon, with the cricket tonight and the speedway on wednesday.
Over the weekend I squeezed in a short training session down the track, in which I invited Keith and Brendon (B'sIL) to the track. I planned to do 5K, however when I began I felt pretty crappy, the wind was quite strong, so I decided on the run to do 2 x 2K and 1x 1K intervals. Keith has over the past few months been trying to establish some fitness and ran 6 laps (2.4K) which was a pretty good effort, Brendon also ran 3 laps, later stating that this was his annual running quota and is looking forward to next year for another 3 laps.
At the end of each run I had a standing recovery, my left leg which is currently the better one was aching BAD!, I think it is the start of shin splints and was causing me some serious discomfort, which has annoyed me. The fact that I am still favouring the knee means that my other leg is coping a pounding every run, even though I am running on softer surfaces. I will now need to rest up even more to get rid of the shin pain. For the remainder of the evening I just iced the shin and knee.
I was hoping to do the 14K run at West end this Sunday, however this is looking highly unlikely, maybe the 7K will have to be it for this week.
I see the rehabilitation doctor tomorrow it will be interesting to see if he thinks that the progress I have been making is good or a bit slow. Hopefully it is good news and that he gives me some sort of structured program to get me back to 100%
Bye for now....
Run Stats
2K - 8.17, 8.25 2min standing recovery
1K - 3.54
Session Total - 5K

Oh no, hope that left leg is okay! Were you using the wedding photos on it - could be karma ;-) Good luck with the doc tomorrow.
Brendon's attitude made me laugh. At least its three laps more than most people would run in a year!
Might see ya at West End Sunday. Not sure, I could be doing kiddie minding for my brother and SIL).
Good on Brendon. How in the universe do you run so fast?
Hope your doc. gives you a good report, Shane; shin splints are no fun so I'm told!
