YAY's all round

Week - 24k
Month - 34k
Month - 903k

First things first, Cass was discharged from hospital yesterday YAY! Everything is going good it will just take some time before she is back feeling herself. In the meantime we will be living a casual life just kicking back and relaxing around the house, something im not going to complain about :)

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I had a reoccurance of pain in my shins again certainly not as bad as before but pain nonetheless. I ended up getting two scans which were done last week. Basically they seem to show minor signs of what could be shin splints, so no compartment syndrom and no stress fractures. YAY again. I did rest for a week when I saw the Doc, then got back into some training, they are feeling brand new now so hopefully they will stay that way.

Yesterday I arrived at work thinking that for PT I would go for a jog, 10k was on the cards and was glad I had the opportunity to get it done in the morning as it was Cass's first day back. The day was slightly chilly to begin with but heated up to a nice warm morning perfect for a slow session. I ran the track that we get our fitness test done on, so knew that each lap was 2.4k. I also wore the Garmin so I could make up the extra after completing 4 laps. I must admit it was the most boring run I have done in a while, apart from doing the session alone the barracks also look like a ghost town no-one was out doing anything. I completed the session, battling to remain awake :) in 47 mins 13 secs. Next time I will choose somewhere with scenery.

At the start of the week I had decided that I would like to make my much awaited return to the track. This was up in the air as I didn't want to leave Cass alone for too long if she was feeling unwell. However after returning home from work she was bright eyed and bushy tailed and didn't mind if I deserted her for an hour, YAY (last one I promise)

I had forgotten how much I enjoy these sessions, hard work but very rewarding. The turn out was a good size with 10 or so members. Phil split us up into two groups and said the session was 10 x 400m with a minute jog recovery. Great I thought, what a session to return on, our group was also under strict instructions to remain at 1.20 per lap (3.20/k).

From the onset I felt awesome the legs had heaps of energy and I was easily sticking on pace. Every lap I consistently got within 1-2 secs either side of the 1.20. I hope I don't sound full of myself but this is the first time in ages that I actually ran well and felt great for a session. I concentrated on my technique rather than focussing on getting as much oxygen as possible before keeling over like I normally am. Overall I am obviously very happy with the way I went tonight.

I am feeling a little tired now writing this and stiffening up a little, but there is no way I will complain about a little soreness especially if I can feel like I did tonight for every session.

I think you're entitled to as many YAYs as you like. Great to hear Cass is back home and doing well AND you're running like a demon.

I'll throw in another YAY just for good measure :-)

Wow, what a great track session. 10 x 400s is a lot! Phil is a hard taskmaster. You have every right to be chuffed about doing so well.

I'm so pleased to hear Cass is feeling better. No doubt you are looking after her and bringing her cups of tea in bed and stuff like that and treating her like every day is Mother's Day and her birthday combined.

And another Yah from me!

Good news all round makes reading blog a true pleasure.

Give Cass a big hug - though no doubt Sam is giving her his full share.

Great news that the legs are recovered and your speed session is certainly evident of that.

See you at BRRC on Sunday if you are going.
