The Week in Review

I haven't posted for a few days, mainly due to the lack of physical activity that has taken place. So I will quickly update what's been going on.

The start of the working week, on the agenda was a small cct with some hill sprints for PT. I pulled up a little stiff and sore after Sundays run which wasn't normal. During the cct this didn't get any better and started to become uncomfortable, to the extent where I asked to be excused from the session to rest up. It was the same ache that I had experienced a few months ago only on a less painful scale. I iced up, massaged the area and took anti-inflam's hoping that it was just a freak thing.

Tuesday I woke up feeling pretty good, however area's along my shins were painful to put pressure on. I also noticed it was uncomfortable to squat whilst doing my job which caused me concern. I decided to make an appointment to see the Doc...

Wednesday 1030, seated in the Dr's office explaining my dilemma. I explained that it wasn't as painful as what I had earlier in the year but very similar. The difference being there was no indication, no signs of this coming on. I knew this was strange and the Doc agreed. He wasn't sure what was going on, he could understand if it was one leg but both, it just didn't add up so......

I am once again booked in for some more scans. I might aswell utilise my free medical and see what is causing this reoccuring injury. He has booked me in for a muscle perfusion scan which is an injection of a radioactive isotope into the muscle. I then have to run on a treadmill and then have a scan which will indicate blood flow through the problem area's. The purpose of this is to rule out Compartment Syndrome, the downside to this can is that if I dont experience the pain or discomfort when I run on the tready then it will not detect the cause.

The next scan is another bone scan just to compare the scan that I had earlier in the year. The two scans have to be performed on seperate days, the muscle one is first next wednesday the bone scan is on the 11 Sep.

Due to the fact that there is quite a few days between now to the scan I am still going to do some training. I am not going to be stupid about it but I want to find out what is going on. If I rest up the discomfort will subside and the scans will not detect anything. I know it sounds weird but I want the pain present at the scans, that way if there is something wrong I will give it the best chance to rear it's ugly head during the scans.

It is by no means as bad as before, but if I continued with my training for a few more weeks without seeing the Doc I would be out of action again for some time.

Will keep updating on how the training goes between now and the scans.
