Not very imaginative today which is the reason for the boring title!

Firstly a quick update on Samuel. He is doing well, his sleeping patterns are pretty good. I cant really complain about anything that he does, he seems to be the most chilled out baby that I have been around. Apart from his flatulent, grunting and wierd face pulling personality he doesn't embarss me at all :) His weight gain has increased dramatically over the last fortnight due to him sucking his mum drier than the Queensland outback. He has almost reached the 4kg and quickly growing out of his jumpsuits.

Back to training

Today was supposed to be 4k however due to my rebellious nature I done 5k instead. I have been plodding about for ages so I decided to blow the cobwebs out. I had a sleep in this morning so the run didnt happen till 4.30pm. The day had been overcast with a slight drizzle of rain but as soon as I decided to go the heavens opened. I didn't mind the weather was relatively warm and it stopped about ten minutes in. The plan was to do a slow 1k to get into it then 3k fast then a slow 1k to finish. I haven't done a very simple farlek session like this for a while and it felt good, although the lungs didn't thinks so.

I really had no idea where I was running but what seemed like a good idea before I started didn't actually eventuate. I was going to run 2.5k out ie the 1k slow and 1.5k fast, then turn around continue back for the other 1.5k fast and finish back at home with the slow 1k. Instead it happened like this 1k slow 3k fast in a direction that saw me get further away from home then I turned around ran the slow 1k back which still left me with 3k to get home. Stupid!! Well it made for a nice stroll to cool down :)

The splits ended up like this
1k - 4.44
2k - 8.25 (3.41)
3k - 12.06 (3.41)
4k - 15.59 (3.53)
5k - 21.00 (5.01)

I was quite happy the fast 3k ended up being 11.15, on a slightly undulating street course. Not that I am allowed to but like the physio said I know my body better than her so I am going to West end tomorrow for the club meet. Well Im hoping the calender on it's website is correct because I haven't heard anyone talk about going this week. I suppose I will find out when I get there.

Stats
Today - 5k
Month - 20k
YTD - 541k

*edit* 11 jun 06
Well I woke up at 3am for Samuels feed and didn't feel the greatest, I wasn't sore but I could tell that I had done something a bit strenuous the day before if that makes sense. Therefore I didn't get up for the club race this morning. I didn't want to risk hurting the foot again, it is coming along nicely and I want to be fit for the C2S.

No, forget about training talk, we want to hear more about Samuel :-) He has grown sooooo much since Warwick, that's increbile. But still cute as ever. Did you ever post a pic in your blog of him in his CR outfit?

Ok, back to training ... well done on those first few reps. And smart move not running today when you don't feel right.

You're still sounding proud as punch and nothing wrong with that. Nice pic.

Training plans are meant to be broken, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

btw, thanks for your kind comments my way.

Awesome picture mate! was going to ask how bubs was.

Thats great you will be at C2S hope to catch up!What are you aiming for?

What do you think a bloke needs to run on a flat 10km to do C2S under 60mins?

Glad to be back blogging and running better and better!

I'm impressed by your simple Fartlek session too!Not too shabby at all!

Cheers R2B

ooooh he is sooo gorgeous. Make sure Cassie brings him to GC or BRRC if you are doing either of them soon :)

He is like our very own QLD CR mascot. A real live living baby!!!

Good idea to stay at home. I did that too today and felt great tonight but this morning I felt like a cheat....sometimes you just have to listen to your body.
