Week 16.4k
Month 59.8k
YTD 137.8k
I am in the process of moving house and haven't had the opportunity to post or even read any blogs over the past few days. So I will start with last Saturday.
The Caboolture 6/12 hour run was last Saturday in which at the spare of the moment I entered into the event as part of a 3 x 2hr relay. It was a great night however I had to cut it short and didn't get the opportunity to hang around to watch the whole event. I was told two days prior that I had to work on Sunday morning which was a shame. I didn't even get a great opportunity to speak to many of the coolrunners and fellow bloggers as I was obligated to help with the administration of my team by counting laps and helping with drinks etc.
My teams mates done very well I was part of a father and son combo, Errol who is 65 years old I hope he doesn't mind me saying that and his son Geoff. Errol who is an inspiration ran first and covered 43 laps in 2hrs, the laps were around 500m long. At the end of the 2hrs I had to wait a minute or so for Errol to complete his lap before setting off, my goal was to run further than I have ever before which is a 1/2 marathon and set off at a comfortable pace. After about an hour I was beginning to feel the effects of the heat, I just couldn't cool down and for the next hour I had alot of drink breaks which affected my overall result, however I still completed 46 (500m) laps and was very happy with what I achieved - 23km however my garmin said I completed 24.7km. With the amount of dodging you do and taking the corners a bit wider I think the laps are a little longer than 500m so I think maybe 24K is a bit more accurate. Geoff went off next who is a good runner, he suffers from cramps alot which has caused him drama's over the years. Like many of us he was a little under done in the training but still managed 50 laps which was a great effort. Overall our team came 7th with a total of 139 laps. I think I wouldn't mind attempting the 6hr solo event next year.
I must say a huge congratulations to all runners out there that night, it was tough, humid and horrible running weather but it was a fun night, great atmosphere every cheering each other on. Tesso, Clairie, Hannah, VG and her team amongst others done oustanding efforts and was a shame that I had to leave pretty much after my event finished.
I pulled up great on Sunday in terms of soreness just a little tired and battled on through my work day but I will be back to do it all gain next year.
Monday morning was my next run a short slow recovery run of about 4k with 8k of riding, the calf was a little tight but everything else held up great.
I had another rest day yesterday, tonight however I took a break from packing and got to Phils wednesday run group. I enjoy this session it is a medium distance run around 12-18k usually but the pace gets pretty high towards the end. Tonight we ran around 12.4k in spot on an hour, the pace really heated up for the last k and at a guess we were probably sitting on 3:20 - 3:30 pace which broke the group right up. I felt great the whole way, I just hope that my next major run on sunday feels the same. I have started all three West end runs this year and have only completed one of them which was on new years day. Sunday it is either 5mile or 10 mile, I will try and complete the 10 mile.
I will be offline for a few days, the phone cannot be connected up in the new house until monday so tonight is it before the computer gets packed. I will try and do some reading tonight however I will definetely be back next week. Happy training I might see some of you at west end on sunday :)

Fantastic run on Saturday night Shane! How good is it to achieve, or even surpass, a goal.
Though you couldn't stay on too long it was great to have you there and I sure appreciated the cheers and support. I was nice to meet your lovely wife too :-)
See ya at West End Sunday hopefully.
Hi Shane,
You did well to go the distance being your longest run and on not much training - also coming back from injury. Big pat on the back to you!!!
See you Sunday at BRRC. I hear they are going to bring a big coffee machine along so bring a few extra gold coins and we can chat training over coffee :)
