Month - 227 k
YTD - 582.5
It seems as though I had a pretty casual sort of week this week however I pretty much did everything on the program besides one speed session. I cut that away as I played a game of touch footy which is a speed session of sorts.
Anyway, during the week I completed about 11k picking the little bloke up from day care. It was pretty weird and a little embarrassing as I drove home from work, grabbed the running pram and ran to day care without anything in the pram. I made sure I had the weather shield down and I had a blanket stuffed in the seat so it would have seemed that there was somone in there :-) The weather was cold at the time and Sam was like an iceberg when we got home, he enjoyed it but so that's the main thing.
I was going to do the scheduled 4 x 1k reps on Thursday at work but the heavens opened up for most of the day so I ditched that idea and caught a break in the rain last night to complete them. I am liking the ease I am able to run 3.30 - 3.40 for the kilometre, however probably not the greatest thing to be proud of when you are training for a marathon. I ran two of the reps at around 3.45 pace and two at low 3.30 pace.
Cass had is working all weekedn which meant I wasn't able to make it into the city for the long run. This meant I had to find something from deep within to get me out the door and actually do the 3 hrs that was on the program by myself. She was due home about 4.30 but if I left then I would be running in darkness for the majority of the run. Instead I asked Sam if he wanted to go for a run, he was pretty keen to jump in his pram so I took off an hour or so before. About 20 mins into the run Sam fell asleep so I decided to get as much training in as possible before heading home to drop him off. I got 16k in before he woke up and started to get sick of the pram which was about 10 mins shy of 1/2 way. I grabbed a quick drink and then took off without the pram this time.
They are not the easiest things to run with and you really feel it when a hill comes up. I decided that instead of 3 hrs I would stop at 30k, my ankle is a little sore from last weekend due to the slant of the road in the half so rather than risk an injury I cut it short while it was feeling ok still.
I completed the 30k in a little over 2.40 ( 5.22/k). Felt Ok a the legs are a little stiff but I'm sure the skins will sort them out.
Honestly I cant wait until the 6 Jul, I want to get this race over with. I am not liking the 2.30 + training sessions too much so I dont think I will thinking about doing another marathon in the near future.
On a lighter note I cracked 200 km for the month of May, 227 km infact, my biggest month ever!

Good month Shane. I can sympathise with you wanting it to be over - those 2.30-3hr runs are tough.
Having a 3:30k in the back pocket might come in handy if you get to 41k in 2:56 :)
well shane i know now what to get u for your birthday a 3ft doll.
Wow, that's huge.
I hear you on the 2.30+ sessions though. I'm up to 3.30 for my long hikes. Carrying 18kgs makes it a REALLY long day!
Can't wait to hear what you say re another marathon after your first one. I'm betting you'll be keen to get back out and run a second one even faster than he first.
PS Too funny about the empty stroller :-)
Good month Shane and soon you'll get use to it.
Do you have a goal time in mind for GC.
