Perfect Timing..........I dont' think so!

Month - 127.5k
YTD - 483k

Friday afternoon saw my Boss come in and tell me he had bad news, the news was that I had to work all Saturday and remain at work until 8am Sunday. Thanks alot.

Not only did this destroy my plans to complete my long run on Saturday morning but we also had friends drive up from Coffs Harbour to visit and have dinner for his Birthday Saturday night. I tried furiously to find someone to take my spot after 5pm Saturday so I could at least see our friends who were staying at my house and have dinner to celebrate his birthday, I was even offering $100 but I had no takers.

Anyway I did finally get to see them for about 2 hrs Sunday morning before they had to head off home. I also hadn't seen my wife or son for very long either and Sunday being the last day off before both of us were back at work it would have been pretty ordinary for me to take off for a long session. So Sunday was a complete rest day.

I did however manage whilst at work Saturday to unlock the Physio department (the joys of working at the Defence Hospital) and pound the tready for what you could say was the most mind numbing 70 minutes I have experienced in quite some time. I had it set at 5 min/k pace and wanted to do 15k at least, however by the end of it I had increased the pace to actually knock 5 minutes off my plan as I couldn't stand it anymore. This worked out to be 4.43/k which wasn't so bad.

This morning I headed off around 8am at work for the 50 minute run that was programmed for tomorrow. I mixed it up a little combining road and trails over flat and extra hilly terrain. With the rest day yesterday I was suprised at how crappy I felt, the session felt hard and I couldn't wait for it to be over. I remained out for about 11k in a tad over 56 minutes which should have been comfortable.

I developed a stitch aswell underneath my rib cage that has been sore all day, it feels like I have torn something, I know I haven't but it is rather uncomfortable, hopefully it will settle down tomorrow.

I will probably do another 1 or 2 sessions before heading up to Warwick on Friday. I hope to achieve a similar result as last year of around 3.06 for the 2 days of racing. I hope it isn't too cold, last year we got lucky but the chill around Brisbane currently suggests that it will be a cold one this year.

Oh, I'd forgotten Warwick was on this weekend. That is a fanatastic event; I'm looking forward to heading up for it again. Maybe next year (fingers crossed!)

Good luck & enjoy!

Last minute work commitments are a real pain and they have stuffed me up from time to time.

Good luck with Warwick, that's an event I wouldn't mind doing one year.

Come on guys, how can it be freezing? It's beautiful and perfect Queensland! Shane, you've got to attempt sub-3.

I know what you mean about treadys - the most I've done is 5k. You did well.
