Time for another recap

Week - 27.5k
Month - 77.5k
YTD - 289k

Well it's another week down and not many to go until Warwick - 3 weeks to be exact. In saying that this past week has been a fairly good one compared to my year so far. I have yet to pass 300km for the year for no reason in particular. I am feeling the best I have felt in over a year, no niggles or any injuries which I'm guessing is directly related to the easy months I have had. Anyway I will give a quick run down on what's been going on.

Sunday 22nd - The family headed into the city to watch the Brisbane Marathon, I was on baby sitting duties and Cass was helping out with the registrations for the event. An early morning for the little man but he eventually got sick of the race and fell asleep. Not a bad event with some good results. After we headed home I took off for an 8.5-9k run around the neighbourhood although this was an estimate as I forgot to charge the garmin I completed the run in about 41 min's which sort of fitted with the pace I was running.

Tuesday 24 - With ANZAC day looming work was pretty hectic which saw the cancellation of PT. I envisaged this was going to happen and brought some running gear and planned to go for a short run during my lunch time. 5k in total beginning with a 1k medium fast pace then 1k slow and so on. It was damn hot and was glad that it was over. My work output for the remainder of the day suffered as a result :-)

Thursday 26 - After a few more drinks the previous day than what I should have I thought I was going to be suffering the next day. When I woke up and got ready for work I was suprised that I felt pretty good. I arrived at work and noticed that most of my work mates looked rather seedy which was quite funny as some of those had to do a Fitness test. I decided that I would help out with the test and pace a few on them for the 2.4k run. The aim for them was to get under 10min's which is not a bad time for them considering the lead up. I worked out the 400m splits I needed which was 1.40 (4.10/k) and we headed of. The first 1200m was much quicker completing it in 4.45 however I think this hurt them a little and the second half was finished in 5.09. This still got them under the 10 min mark which they were happy with.

Today - Headed into the city again for the Saturday running buddies group. I was running a little late and was pulling up as the group ran past. Glad I parked where I did as they ran a different route than what I have done before. Anyway I caught up with the group including Tesso Clairie and Matt about the 1.5k mark. We ran from Southbank through Kangaroo Point over the Storey bridge across to the New farm area I think and then back to Southbank via Eagle street pier and the botanic gardens. It was a good run an easy pace which saw me clock over an hour on the legs. Something I haven't done for a while. After the run we all had some breakfast at the local cafe before heading home.

Tomorrow - Is the annual Mt Mee fun run, 3 events ranging from 50k, 26k, 10k. I did the 10k last year as a lead up for Warwick and have decided to do it again. A fairly tough run on the road across part of a range, so plenty of hills. It is a 5k out and back course beginning at 9am. Last year I was getting over my shin splints and took it fairly casual, however even at a sedate pace I was buggered by the end. Tomorrow will be the same, hopefully clocking something a bit faster but not flat out. Time to beat 49.01

You missed out Wednesday, I assume 'drinks with the boys' type night. I'm sort of suffering that right now.

It was great to have you along yesterday, hope you can join us more often. Cass & Sam too :-)

Hope Mt Mee goes well today. Sure sounds like perfect Warwick training. One of these days I'll get there.

It must be a hard run if 49:01 is the time to beat. I hope it went well Shane.

Not long to Warwick. All the best for the remaining few weeks.
