Easy does it!

Week - 5.5k
Month 92.5k
YTD - 92.5k

A hectic week so far at work has caused my return to training to be very slow going indeed. I have just felt like crap the last few days after getting home from work and have not felt like doing anything that involves raising my heartrate beyond the level that keeps me concious.

The two small sessions that I have completed have felt pretty good. No signs of the calf issue however I haven't really gave it a chance to complain.

On Monday I headed out for my first jaunt in almost two weeks. The day was hot and humid. I ended up running for 3k at 5min/k pace. As a precautionary tatic I iced the problem area which seem to pull up well the next day.

Today at work I headed out for a small jog around the 2.4k fitness test course. Primarily to show the new blokes at work the course that they will be tested on come this Friday. The pace was easy going at around 4.40 pace.

I haven't got any training planned for the remainder of this week and will just take it as it comes. I have to work this Saturday so the group run from South Bank is not a possibility :-( I will however be running this Sunday at West End, for the Brisbane Road Runners fortnightly race.

I am not entirely sure what race I will do but I am leaning towards just the 5k run and maybe a slow 2-3k cool down. This will probably be the smartest option considering the amount of running I have done.

***For the Family***

Here are a couple of Pics of Sam, one showing off his new fangs the other looking as though he has been up to something. Just in case you are all wondering about the marks on his body, no we don't bash him ;-) he gets rather energetic once in water and likes throwing himself around.

Great photos of your boy Sam. Just as well you don't beat him He'd remember it and it looks like he's going to grow up to be a big boy. And with red hair too? Look out.

Pity you're missing the Saturday run. Sunday should be fun though with our Clairie as race director.

Sam is starting to look a little on the cheeky side :-)

Cute kid - get his looks from his mother does he? :-)

Motivation is a fickle creature - but my experience is you always feel better after a run.

Certainly looks a happy chappy.

I may see you on Sunday at BRRC.

Woohoo, great to see photos of Sam up there - made my day!

Be great to see you on Sunday. Hope you are bringing Cassie and Sam down too.

See you then. In the meantime - look after that calf.

Sam could be the next Thorpie. Either that, or he wants to get out and run ;)

Cute pics! I rememeber that "look" well!

Glad to hear the calf is feeling better Shane. Keep easing back into it.

Those goals look good, what a great way to do a 'marathon'!

Wow, Sam is very cute.

Looks more of a footballer than a runner :-).

Hope we see you Sunday (BRRC).

At least after those two runs there's no lingering calf problems. That's a good thing. I can't comment of the motivation thing other than what 2p said, "always feel better after a run".

Nice photos of Sam.

Proud Dad for sure, and you should be. He's a great looking young man. I hope you show us other pics further down the track. He will be into Little A's before you know it.

Good move not to push things when the work pressures are on. It can work both ways but I find stress at work really affects my running badly.
