WEEK - 46.2K
MONTH - 98.2K
YTD - 315.2K
Monday morning after the 1/2 the day before I was very suprised about how the body was feeling. I had a little tightness in the calf but apart from that nothing else was a concern. In saying that I didn't feel like running so it turned out to be a rest day.
Tuesday Morning I had a late start which meant I could squeeze in a light jog before going to work. The morning was hot, and by the time I finished I was drenched. I ended up completing 6.5k very slowly, over 5 min/k pace. Not much else to say about it, so on to Wednesday.
Yesterday was the Mid week medium run. I went with my normal group and we were told by Phil to run for about 80-85 mins. The pace was on from the start, however I got chatting and didn't realise how quick we were going until the first drink stop. We had a short break and continued on the most boring track you can only imagine, a completely straight bike path with no lights with the occassional smelly dead animal and stagnant water. Beautiful.
The next rest break was at the 8k mark. Matty the guru on run tracks gave us a choice of two ways we could continue, one of which involved large hills the other some small rises but mainly flat and shorter. So we decided to take the hilly track.......NOT! and carried on. The time at this stage wasn't even 40 mins and we already heading back. Phil has been getting concerned about how our group always seems to be back first, we have been pretty slack in increasing the runs and has hinted that we should be getting more strict on the time we spend out there.
The remaining distance was maintained at a decent pace, a few of the younger fella's took off for the last km but the remainder of us decided to stick together and return to the start as one. We ended up finishing the night with 14.4km in a time of 69.30. Around 10-15 minutes shorter than what we were supposed to do, we vowed last night that next week will be a longer duration but at a slower pace. Should be fun :)
Tonight was back to the track, I haven't been for a while and struggled to get there tonight. I wasn't tired but the Games are on and I hadn't seen any of it yet and was having withdrawals. I did however drag myself down there, which now Im glad I did, I really needed to go.
The group was small but everyone seem to have someone to chase as it is a handicap start. The program was 1000m, 800m, 600m, 400m, 600m, 800m a total of 4.2km. I felt pretty good the recovery is alot better but the legs did feel it a little more.
The times for the reps were:
1000m - 3.20
800m - 2.38
600m - 2.03
400m - 1.17
600m - 1.59
800m - 2.42
I am also quite impressed about my mileage for this week, I will more than likely crack the 50k for the first time in years. However it does help quite a bit when your week starts off with a 1/2 marathon.
Happy Trainng :)

Well done on the upcoming 50k week Shane!
Gee, those rep times look great, especially considering the half on Sunday and the Wednesday night run. A 3:20 km - woohoo!
